Galectin-3 Expression Promotes Pulmonary Hypertension Through Multiple Mechanisms
نویسندگان
چکیده
Pulmonary Hypertension is a progressive vascular disease resulting from the tapering of pulmonary arteries causing high arterial blood pressure and ultimately right ventricular failure. A defining characteristic excessive remodeling that includes increased proliferation, fibrosis inflammation. There no outward cure for nor are there interventions effectively impede or reverse remodeling, research over past several decades has sought to identify novel molecular mechanisms target therapeutic benefit. Galectin-3 carbohydrate binding lectin unique its chimeric structure, comprised an N-terminal oligomerization domain C-terminal carbohydrate-recognition domain. regulator modifications in cell behavior contribute aberrant including inflammation, fibrosis, but role poorly understood. In this review, we define summarize specific topics regarding expression development by providing evidence which supports ability influence reactive oxygen species production, NADPH enzyme expression, inflammation all phenomena Hypertension.

Galectin-3 inhibition ameliorates hypoxia-induced pulmonary artery hypertension
Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a β-galactoside-binding lectin, which is important in inflammation, fibrosis and heart failure. The present study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of Gal-3 in hypoxia-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Male C57BL/6J and Gal‑3‑/‑ mice were exposed to hypoxia, then the right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP) and Fulton's index were measured, and Gal...

AIMS Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive lung disease characterized by pulmonary vasoconstriction and vascular remodelling, leading to increased pulmonary vascular resistance and right heart failure. Loss of nitric oxide (NO) signalling and increased endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS)-derived oxidative stress are central to the pathogenesis of PAH, yet the mechanisms in...
متن کاملIL-27 promotes T cell–dependent colitis through multiple mechanisms
Interleukin-27 (IL-27) is a cytokine known to have both proinflammatory and immunoregulatory functions. The latter appear to dominate in vivo, where IL-27 suppresses TH17 responses and promotes the differentiation of Tr1 cells expressing interferon-γ and IL-10 and lacking forkhead box P3 (Foxp3). Accordingly, IL-27 receptor α (Il27ra)-deficient mice suffer from exacerbated immune pathology when...
متن کاملEpigenetic mechanisms of pulmonary hypertension
Epigenetics refers to changes in phenotype and gene expression that occur without alterations in DNA sequence. Epigenetic modifications of the genome can be acquired de novo and are potentially heritable. This review focuses on the emerging recognition of a role for epigenetics in the development of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Lessons learned from the epigenetics in cancer and neurod...

intervention with anticoagulant treatment has an impressive effect on the survival of the patient. It is possible to conclude that the progression of the disease is linked to this phenomenon. In addition to thrombosis, it is important to appreciate that inherited forms of thrombophilia, i.e. enhanced or hypercoaguable states, account for over 40% of patients who experience recurrent deep vein t...
